I welcome you to the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Our Department provides thorough training of highly skilled technical manpower at the highest level in the area of Electrical Power System, Control, Instrumentation, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
Our curriculum which is regularly updated to meet new advances in Technology is aimed to train and educate the students as the next generation of Engineers, equipping them with cutting edge knowledge to meet the commercial, industrial, technological and moral needs of Nigeria and the World in general.
We offer degrees at the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng), Master of Engineering (M.Eng), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) levels. The Ph.D programme currently offers options of the power systems and machines, and Electronics and Telecommunication.
The maritime Engineering undergraduate programme recently approved by the University Senate in 2014 is domiciled in the department for nurturing, with specialized areas in:

  • Maritime Electrical and Communication Engineering
  • Offshore Engineering
  • Naval Architecture and Ship Building

Our staff members are highly dedicated and committed to the students learning and welfare. They are highly qualified academically, professionally and are fellows and members of various professional bodies all over the world such as The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
The Department boasts of Six (6) Professors, Three (3) Associate Professors, Two (2) Senior Lecturers, Twenty-Three (23) Lecturers I & II, and Twelve (12) Graduate Assistants as well as a full complement of highly skilled and qualified Technical Staffs numbering Twenty-One (21) and ranging from Chief technologist to Laboratory Assistants.
The department is fully accredited by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) and COREN � the professional body saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and ensuring standards in the teaching and practice of Engineering in Nigeria.
Our graduates are highly sort after in industries and many hold employment all around the world; providing technical support base for industrial establishment, designing, producing, maintaining and servicing electrical/electronic, telecommunication, instrumentation, control and mechatronic systems.
Academic staff of the Department regularly organize as well as attend conferences, seminars, and workshops in their various field of engineering practice as part of community services, manpower development and training. The Department has forged links with industries and undertakes task for both National and International companies.
